With College Tutoring in Short Supply, U.S. Students Are Increasingly Turning to AI for Guidance

Burlingame, CA – July 29, 2025 – Qwoted Newswire – As generative AI reshapes the academic landscape in 2025, college students across the United States are no longer relying solely on traditional tutoring support systems. Tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and now QuickTakes are becoming essential resources for students seeking to stay competitive and reduce stress during an increasingly fast-paced school year.

According to a study by Macmillan Learning analyzing over 8,000 student interactions, 41% of students reported improved problem-solving skills and greater exam confidence, thanks to 24/7 access to AI-powered tutoring.

Even OpenAI has publicly acknowledged that academic support is among the most promising use cases for AI. Leah Belsky, VP of Education, OpenAI went on record to tell Axios,“Although it’s still the early stages of the adoption curve, AI for tutoring, in particular, is showing promise,” said Belsky.

QuickTakes, a fast-growing AI-powered edtech platform, is leading the movement this semester by providing students with real-time academic support, offering automated lecture summaries, smart flashcards, personalized study guides, and a chatbot for on-demand Q&A. The platform is gaining traction among students who face barriers to note-taking, lack access to tutors, or are overwhelmed by information overload.

“We’re seeing that students aren’t just using AI because it’s a trendy hack, they’re using it because it’s solving real, unmet needs, especially for first-gen, working, or neurodivergent students. AI levels the academic playing field by helping all students 24/7,” said George Chen, President of QuickTakes.

During recent user interviews, Shasta College pre-nursing student L. Marston shared how QuickTakes has helped her improve academic performance while juggling work and coursework.

“The study guide the app provided gave additional information that he (the professor) would elaborate on in class but wasn’t included on his lecture slides. So the school itself didn’t really give any help beyond that,” said Marston. “They offer a tutoring center, but there are no tutors available for certain subjects. So we were just kind of on our own for study resources and materials. So the app was a huge help for that.”

With the Fall 2025 semester fast approaching, student adoption of AI for ethical, productivity-focused learning is expected to rise. Platforms like QuickTakes are positioning themselves as critical tools, not for cheating, but for surviving the semester.
