Singapore, 16th Jul 2025 — The Veblen Director Programme is proud to announce the appointment of five of its members to the newly formed Global Advisory Board of Farming & Health Education (FHE), a refugee-led Community-Based Organization based in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya.
This partnership brings experienced board-level thinking to one of East Africa’s most innovative grassroots movements, combining local leadership with global advisory capacity. FHE delivers regenerative farming, preventive healthcare, and education to displaced populations, and has grown from a small kitchen garden into a community-led initiative spanning hundreds of farms and training programs.
“We are deeply honoured to welcome members of the Veblen Director Programme to the Global Advisory Board of Farming & Health Education,” said Marcelin Petro Munga, Founder and CEO of FHE. “This is a major milestone in our journey—from a humble beginning to a growing, refugee-led movement focused on sustainable livelihoods and youth leadership. The strategic guidance and diverse expertise brought by the Veblen team will be instrumental as we work to scale our impact and strengthen our systems.”
Appointed Advisory Board Members
Craig Keddie brings deep experience in governance and systems design, helping organizations translate complexity into structured, scalable growth.
“FHE represents the kind of complexity worth showing up for. What began as a small act of self-sufficiency has become a systems-level challenge in food security, health, and refugee-led innovation. I’m looking forward to helping structure the growth ahead without diluting the local wisdom that made it possible.”
Vanessa Haripersad is a leadership advisor with over two decades in HR strategy and organizational development, focused on building high-trust cultures and aligning vision with action.
“I am particularly drawn to FHE’s focus on self-led development and long-term sustainability, which aligns closely with my values. FHE is a model of hope and action in one of the world’s most underserved regions. I’m honoured to support their next chapter of growth, mentorship, and replication across Africa.”
Shelley-Ann Pieterse is a transformation advisor with over 20 years of senior leadership experience and a growing focus on governance, strategy, and organizational oversight.
“F.H.E. is a rare example of grassroots leadership meeting bold systems thinking. From nutrition to education to empowerment, their work is reshaping what’s possible in communities like theirs. I’m honoured to contribute my experience in governance, strategy, and transformation to help F.H.E. grow without losing its soul.”
Vic Akosile advises boards and founders on strategic clarity, growth infrastructure, and impact-focused governance.
“From a single garden to over 800 farms, FHE has shown what’s possible when community leads. That journey started with one question: ‘What if there’s a better way?’ I’m excited to help bring structure, scale, and visibility to this incredible movement.”
Ilona Roodt, CA (SA) is a senior finance executive with expertise in capital strategy, risk oversight, ESG reporting, and financial governance.
“I was truly inspired by Marcelin and what he has achieved in founding FHE. I’m humbled to contribute to the financial strategy, capital access, and governance that will support its expansion across Africa.”
