Toyota Recalls Nearly 70,000 Vehicles in Australia Over Dashboard Display Fault, According to car.news

According to car.news, Toyota Australia has issued a large-scale product safety recall involving 69,586 vehicles manufactured between July 2022 and April 2025. The affected models include some of the brand’s most popular cars, such as the Toyota RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Cross, Camry, CH-R, GR Yaris, and Kluger.

The issue concerns a potentially faulty 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which may fail to display essential vehicle information when the car is started. This could include the speedometer, warning lights, and other key indicators.

“Due to improper programming of the combination meter, unnecessary data is repeatedly written to a memory device,” says Toyota in its recall notice. “This causes the memory device to deteriorate earlier than expected. As a result, the monitor may not display any information at ignition and remain blank.”

Driving without access to the speedometer or warning indicators could increase the risk of an accident, especially in certain traffic or weather conditions.

The recall affects the following models and their hybrid variants:

  • Toyota CH-R Hybrid
  • Camry Hybrid
  • Corolla Hatch & Sedan
  • Corolla Hatch Hybrid & Sedan Hybrid
  • Corolla Cross & Corolla Cross Hybrid
  • GR Corolla
  • GR Yaris
  • Kluger & Kluger Hybrid
  • RAV4 & RAV4 Hybrid

Toyota Australia has assured customers that all affected owners will be contacted, and that dealerships will perform a free software update on the instrument cluster. Depending on the model, the fix will take between one to 2.5 hours. However, some vehicles may need to stay at the dealership longer depending on scheduling and service availability.

While Toyota says the affected vehicles are currently safe to drive, it encourages owners to arrange the update as soon as possible. For further assistance, customers can contact their local Toyota dealer or call the Toyota Recall Campaign Helpline at 1800 987 366.

The full list of Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) for recalled vehicles is available for public reference.
