SLICK N MORDY: The Award-Winning Short with Smokepurpp Is Going Feature-Length

Los Angeles, CA — SLICK N MORDY, the coming-of-age comedy-drama-action film from six-time award-winning filmmaker Daniel Mouyal, is building buzz. Logline: After their father disappears, two brothers—one a debt-ridden Jewish drug dealer, the other a devout Jew—set off for Tokyo, confronting danger, secrets, and their troubled relationship along the way.

The teaser short film, featuring Nicholas Mouyal as Slick, a delinquent drug dealer, and Smokepurpp (making his acting debut as Purpp, Slick’s devil’s advocate and accomplice), has garnered over 3.5 million Instagram views (@slicknmordymovie) in a week and earned festival recognition, including an Honorable Mention at the Sound and Vision International Film & Technology Festival. Nicholas and Smokepurpp’s real-life friendship, coupled with the brothers’ natural on-screen chemistry, adds authenticity and energy to the story.

Daniel Mouyal brings depth to Mordy, an observant Jew, drawing on his acting experience in short films and A Viking Saga: Son of Thor (2007), featured on Netflix and HBO Max, acting in a supporting role alongside Erik Holmey, Peter Gantzler, and Academy Award-nominated actresses Julie Ølgaard and Neel Rønholt.
