By SAN MATEO, California — January 2, 2026 — The Peercoin Foundation today announced its formal launch as a California-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Peercoin, one of the world’s longest-running blockchain networks and a recognized pioneer in proof-of-stake technology.
Peercoin was an early innovator introducing proof-of-stake consensus, energy-efficient blockchain design and sustainable network security. Building upon this legacy, the newly-chartered Peercoin Foundation will provide organizational structure and resources for continued support and growth of the Peercoin network and community.
The Foundation’s mission is to promote the use of Peercoin for real-world applications while upholding a core ethos of decentralization, transparency, and sustainability.
“Recent advancements have brought threshold signatures, distributed oracle capabilities, and off-chain contract mechanisms to the Peercoin project, significantly expanding what builders and users can do with the network,” said Wing Yu, spokesperson for the Peercoin Foundation. “Raising awareness of these capabilities is one of our immediate goals.”
In addition to education and advocacy, the Peercoin Foundation will focus on community engagement and participation.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for anyone who’s interested in Peercoin to participate in the network and to get practical, first-hand experience as a wallet holder, minter, miner or app user,” added Mr. Yu.
