San José, CA — Néstor Alfaro, a growing presence in American youth soccer, was recently invited by the Federación Salvadoreña de Fútbol (FESFUT) to participate in the national team’s training camp in San José, California, in preparation for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup. His inclusion highlights the increasing international recognition of his work in youth development and coaching strategy.

A former youth national team player for El Salvador, Alfaro has successfully transitioned into a respected youth development coach in the United States. He currently works with Marin Soccer Camp and the Dave Fromer Soccer Academy, both based in California, where he focuses on developing tactical skillsets and building strong mental frameworks for young players. His cross-cultural coaching philosophy integrates Latin American football values with modern American training methodologies.

“It was an honor to sit down with a coach of ‘El Bolillo’s’ caliber,” said Alfaro, referring to Hernán Darío “El Bolillo” Gómez, El Salvador’s current head coach. “We discussed the mindset required at the elite level, and how foundational work at the youth level lays the groundwork for national success.”

Alfaro’s role during the camp included running tactical workshops, providing insight on athlete mindset, and delivering motivational talks to players. He also had the opportunity to exchange development strategies with Coach Gómez in a private session that covered long-term planning and talent nurturing, particularly for homegrown athletes.

“Néstor reminded us why we play for the crest. His words lit a fire in all of us,” said Jairo Henríquez, a midfielder for the national team and fellow Alianza FC alumnus.

This initiative underscores Alfaro’s growing influence as a bridge between Latin American football traditions and U.S. youth development systems. His impact is especially felt in underserved communities, where he focuses on creating structured, empowering environments for young athletes who may otherwise lack access to professional resources.

As he returns to his daily coaching duties in the Bay Area, Alfaro continues to be seen as a strategic collaborator for the Salvadoran national program. His recent invitation marks not just a professional milestone but a wider acknowledgment of his contributions to the sport at both the grassroots and national levels.

“Whether I’m coaching youth in California or supporting national team efforts, it’s always about using football to inspire,” Alfaro said.
