The BMW Z4 Final Edition has been officially revealed, marking the approaching end of production for the current-generation Z4 in March 2026, after nearly eight years on the market. This announcement comes as no surprise following Toyota’s confirmation in August 2025 that the Supra — essentially a rebadged Z4 built on the same Austrian production line — would also be discontinued.
Toyota Australia ceased orders for the GR Supra, codenamed A90, in August 2025, with a limited Supra Final Edition of just 300 units unveiled globally in November. Now, according to Car.News, BMW has confirmed that the Z4 Final Edition, like the Supra Final Edition, will not be offered in Australia, highlighting another parallel between the two sports cars.
The swansong for the current ‘G29’ Z4 shares its naming with the last Supra, with orders for the Z4 Final Edition set to open in January 2026, just weeks before production ends for both models.
Unlike a standalone model, the Final Edition is a treatment package applicable to any Z4 equipped with the M Sport pack, meaning buyers can choose either four- or six-cylinder engines. Finished in exclusive Frozen Matt Black paint, the Final Edition also features high-gloss red brake calipers and Shadowline exterior trim as standard. The red detailing continues inside the cabin, with colorful stitching tying together the dashboard, console, and door trims.
Priced at €4,200 ($7,500) above the standard Z4, the Final Edition offers subtle styling upgrades rather than mechanical changes. In Australia, the standard Z4 ranges from $103,400 to $142,700, excluding on-road costs.
While BMW has not confirmed a direct successor to the Z4, according to Car.News, Toyota is reportedly planning a next-generation Supra as soon as 2027. Japanese reports suggest the new Supra will feature a 373kW hybrid powertrain, surpassing the outgoing petrol model’s 320kW Final Edition tune. Additionally, Toyota plans to revive the Celica namefor a new sports car, as confirmed by Chairman Akio Toyoda in late 2024.
The company is also set to reveal its eagerly awaited GR GT sports car in December 2025, expected to feature a hybrid V8 engine.
