By Aztelekom LLC, part of AZCON Holding in Azerbaijan, has been honored with the prestigious award “Gigacity Champion” by the World Broadband Association (WBBA). This recognition highlights the company’s outstanding achievements in providing gigabit-speed broadband connectivity across Azerbaijan.
The award was presented to Mr.Hasan Omarov, Acting CEO of Aztelekom LLC, and recognises the company’s commitment to expanding its next-generation digital infrastructure. The Gigacity Champion is one of the WBBA’s significant awards designed to recognize leading efforts that accelerate the development of broadband services and support cities in achieving Gigacity status.
Speaking about the significance of this award, Mr. Omarov said:
“This recognition serves as an international validation of the progress Aztelekom has made in providing high-speed connectivity to cities and regions across the country. It is a strong testament to our long-term vision and commitment to advancing Azerbaijan’s digital transformation.”
This is the third major international award received by Aztelekom in the past year. As the main operator of the successfully completed Online Azerbaijan megaproject, the company was previously awarded the Speedtest Award for Fastest Fixed Network by Ookla, the world leader in network analytics, and the Best Practice of Home Broadband Development award by IDATE, a company with more than 45 years of global experience in digital transformation.
It should be noted that all three awards were given to a fixed internet service provider for the first time in Azerbaijan’s history, further strengthening Aztelekom’s position as a national leader in innovation and broadband infrastructure development.
