No browsing, DNS, or real IP data is collected—so there’s nothing advertisers can see, share, or sell.

X-VPN, a global VPN service provider operated by LIGHTNINGLINK NETWORKS PTE. LTD., has released a public statement reaffirming that its free, ad-supported version does not collect any sensitive user data like browsing history, DNS queries, or real IP addresses. Despite displaying third-party ads to support free users, the company emphasizes that it follows the same strict no-logs policy and memory-only architecture across all subscription tiers, ensuring that user privacy remains protected by design.
X-VPN’s stance is clear: because no online activity is ever collected in the first place, there is nothing to share with advertisers or third parties, by default.
What X-VPN Does Not Collect—By Design
At the core of X-VPN’s privacy model is a fundamental principle: if no sensitive activity data is ever collected, there is nothing to be exposed, stored, or shared. This applies equally to free and premium users.
X-VPN confirms that it does not collect or store any of the following personal or behavioral data:
- Browsing history or online activity, including websites visited, search queries, or app usage
- Transferred content, such as emails, messages, downloads, uploads, or streaming data
- Real IP addresses, either the user’s source IP or the VPN server IP
- DNS queries, including the domains users attempt to access
- Precise location data, such as GPS or IP-based geolocation
- Payment details, including credit card numbers or banking information
- Device identifiers, such as IMEI, MAC address, or other hardware-based IDs
- App usage patterns or device configurations
- Behavioral analytics, profiling, or predictive tracking of any kind
- Data from apps outside of X-VPN
These commitments are detailed in the company’s No-Logs Policy page, where it is also stated that “free users share the same level of no-log protection as premium users.” This means there is no distinction in privacy based on subscription type.
According to the company, this list is enforced not only by policy but also through technical architecture. X-VPN’s apps do not request unnecessary permissions and do not perform background collection of browsing or VPN activity data. No online activity logs are written to disk during a session. All data used to maintain a VPN session is handled in memory and cleared when the session ends; any separate operational data is retained only as long as needed for support or billing, then deleted.
Because nothing is logged, nothing is left behind. This is the foundation of X-VPN’s approach to privacy.
Ad-Supported, Privacy-Protected: How X-VPN Handles Free Access
To support free access while maintaining its privacy-first model, X-VPN works with advertising platforms such as Google AdMob, Liftoff, InMobi, and Chartboost. These partners are publicly listed to uphold transparency, not to imply data sharing. X-VPN does not log, store, or transmit any sensitive user data, including browsing activity, IP addresses, or device identifiers, that could be used for personalized advertising or profiling.
Because no sensitive data is ever collected, there is nothing to share with advertisers or third parties.
On iOS, X-VPN takes an additional step by choosing not to use Apple’s IDFA or similar advertising identifiers, which are often used to track user behavior across apps.
Users can also access the free version without creating an account. No email address, password, or personal login is required, further minimizing any exposure of personal information.
The result is a free VPN experience where advertising and user data remain entirely separate. Monetization exists, but at no cost to privacy.
A Privacy-First VPN Experience—With or Without a Subscription
X-VPN offers free users access to more than 1,000 servers worldwide, which requires significant global infrastructure to operate. Advertising in the free mobile version helps offset these server and maintenance costs, allowing users to enjoy fast, reliable connections without paying or providing personal information.
This monetization model does not rely on personal data. As outlined in X-VPN’s transparency report, the service does not collect sensitive information that could be used for profiling or targeted advertising.
For users who prefer an uninterrupted experience, the Premium version of X-VPN removes all advertising components and does not invoke any third-party ad SDKs. Premium users also gain access to 10,000+ global servers and advanced protection features designed to enhance security across more use cases.
