Mihaela Minca Launches Cultural Institute to Bring Roma Heritage to the World

This November 2025 in the picturesque town of Mogoșoaia, just outside Bucharest, internationally recognized Roma leader Mihaela Minca will unveil a groundbreaking cultural initiative: the Mihaela Minca Cultural Institute, a space devoted to preserving, celebrating, and reimagining Roma heritage. Envisioned as a center for creative exchange and cultural dialogue, the institute seeks to share the living traditions of the Roma people with the world while inspiring younger generations to take pride in their roots.

“Our traditions are living, evolving, and deeply relevant today,” says Minca. “This institute is about more than preservation; it is about transformation. We want young Roma artists, scholars, and thinkers to explore where they come from and imagine new ways to express that in the modern world.”

Rooted in centuries of ancestral wisdom, the institute will host workshops, exhibitions, lectures, and community programs that highlight the artistry, language, and history of the Roma. Family plays a central role in Mihaela’s vision. Her daughters Anda Mihaela, Ana, Casandra, and Kalyandra are each contributing to the development of the institute’s projects, blending their skills in art, communication, and leadership. Together, they represent the continuation of a legacy that spans generations.

“We see ourselves as custodians of our culture,” says Anda Mihaela. “But we are also storytellers. The goal is to bring Roma creativity to the world in a way that honors our past while embracing what comes next.”

The institute’s launch comes at a time of renewed global interest in cultural preservation and diversity. Across the world, people are recognizing how tradition and innovation can coexist, enriching communities and shaping shared values. Romania’s growing role in these conversations gives the initiative a broader resonance, positioning it as a model for how culture can bridge divides.

“Our hope is to show that Roma culture is not something frozen in history,” adds Michaela Minca. “It is alive, vibrant, and deeply connected to the world around us. Through our stories, music, and art, we want people to feel that connection.”
