According to CAR.NEWS, BMW has introduced the 2025 X5 Shadow Edition in Australia — a striking new variant of its popular large luxury SUV. This special edition brings a bolder, darker aesthetic combined with added luxury and performance features, for an additional premium of $9300 over the standard X5 xDrive30d.

With a price tag of $146,900 before on-road costs, the Shadow Edition is based on the xDrive30d variant (from $137,600) and includes a generous range of enhancements designed to elevate both style and comfort. Four premium metallic paint options are offered, including BMW Individual Dravit Grey, M Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, and Mineral White.

Among the standout features of the X5 Shadow Edition are:

  • 21-inch V-spoke bi-colour alloy wheels with run-flat tyres
  • Crafted Clarity cut glass interior elements, including a crystal iDrive controller
  • Alcantara headliner in Anthracite finish
  • Carbon-fibre interior trim package
  • 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system
  • Privacy glass

Also included is the M Sport Pro Package, bringing a sportier edge with:

  • Red M Sport brakes
  • M Shadowline lighting
  • M Sport exhaust system
  • M Shadowline exterior treatment
  • M-branded seat belts

Under the bonnet, there are no mechanical changes. The 2025 BMW X5 Shadow Edition continues to be powered by the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder engine, producing 210kW and 650Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

The X5 Shadow Edition marks the latest chapter in BMW’s use of the Shadow Edition branding, following similar versions of the 3 Series (2017), 1 Series (2019), and X7 (2020). According to CAR.NEWS, this latest variant blends performance, luxury, and a distinctive darker style that’s likely to appeal to buyers seeking exclusivity in a family-friendly SUV package.
