Ford Recalls Several Models Due to Infotainment System Software Issues

0

Ford has announced a recall of several vehicle models due to software faults detected in its infotainment system. Affected models include the Focus, Mustang, Endura, Escape, and Ranger.

According to the company, a malfunction in the SYNC infotainment software may cause the rearview camera to not function properly when the vehicle is put into reverse. This issue may result in the camera displaying no image at all or freezing the reverse view on the screen even after switching gears.

Additionally, the software glitch can lead to the infotainment screen remaining blank, displaying incorrect language settings, or failing to receive essential software updates. Ford emphasizes that these issues may cause the driver to miss seeing people behind the vehicle while reversing, potentially leading to serious injury or even fatal accidents.

A total of 167 vehicles produced between 2018 and 2023 are affected by this recall. The list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) and the official recall notice are included in the company’s announcement. If you own one of these models, you can schedule a repair at an authorized Ford dealership free of charge.
